There once was a young man from Long Beach
Who was born with the head of a peach
Not because it was soft
Not because it was round
But because it had fuzz that looked bleached.
When he was a babe he was moved
Disrupted from his baby-fine groove
To a place in the north
His folks sallied forth
To relocate this little blonde dude.
There he dwelt till he was joined by another
A good spirit in the form of a brother
And they frolicked and played
In the nights and the days
In a place that was like no other.
And the years they came and they went
Till twenty were pretty well spent
When he met young girl
With the face of a pearl
He suspected what life maybe meant.
For a decade they loved and they tarried
They time that they spent wasn’t horrid
It was so good in fact
They fulfilled their heart's pact
And finally, joyfully, married.
And the wedding was like many others
With the exception of the grooms goofy mother
When it came time for the toast
And it mattered the most
She couldn’t say what she meant, what she druthered.
As her heart it was filled with such pride
In the boy that had married the bride,
Mom gave a toast that was brief
And much to her grief,
Didn’t say the words that love required.
So here's to his goodness
And again to his kindness
One for his charm, and that he is warm,
A sip for his courage in the face of fear
A toast to My Boy Most Dear.
