Being broke sucks butt. But there are a few reasons why it seems to be important.
For one, knowing your community resources is good. Whether it be the food bank on the UCSB campus or the Roman Catholic church that gives away free food.
The number one important thing is knowing that you will survive. Being well off or rich is fantastic...bastards. But the downfall of always being reliant on your own money is, if it all went away, you most likely wouldn't know how to survive or that you even can. And your pride might even get in the way.
When you're broke, you have no pride! So getting free food from a church ain't so bad. The downfall to being broke is being broke. You can't do anything unless you're lucky enough to come across a free or extremely cheap resource.
I'm really good at thinking that life has it out for me sometimes. But it's not always about the graciousness of life as much as the graciousness of other people.
Now here's to hoping that the heavens above don't knock me out before I get the chance to make some money!
