Goleta, CA, June 24, 2010 –
The Annual Goleta Fireworks Festival is back, and this year Lin Aubuchon will be returning as the event’s emcee. Aubuchon, a Santa Barbara native, is the Director of Marketing and Promotions Rincon Broadcasting as well as a part time deejay for 99.9 KTYD and KLITE 101.7. Musical entertainment will be provided by Area 51, a popular local Funk, soul, R &B and Motown band, as well as The Fog, who will be playing some classic oldies. With Aubuchon and these strong musical acts running the show, the Rotary Clubs anticipate a lively and exciting event.
This marks the 14th year the Rotary Clubs of Goleta have provided our community with a spectacular Fireworks show on the 4th of July at Girsh Park. The festival serves a dual purpose- it is an important community event and a fundraiser for the Rotary Clubs of Goleta.
This event is not under written by the City of Goleta, and is instead funded entirely through sponsorships and community donations. The Rotary Clubs depend on local businesses to provide financial support to help defray the cost of fireworks, insurance, venue fees, and other expenses. Funds are tight for everyone this year, and though donation commitments have dwindled, the Rotary Clubs of Goleta are hopeful that more local business owners will come forward as new donation partners to keep the tradition alive.
Past success of events like the Goleta Fireworks Festival and Lemon Festival can be attributed to the generous volunteers that donate their time to the community event. Thousands of Goleta’s community members spend their hours exhibiting their strong community spirit, celebrating with neighbors and visitors alike.
The net proceeds from this event have allowed the Rotary Clubs to fund worthy community projects each year:
· -The Goleta Teen of the Year Scholarship Program
· -S.B.C.C. Scholarships
· -The Red Ribbon Program
· -Leadership Training for High School Students
· -After School Programs and PTAs
· -Los Prietos Boys Camp Tech Training Scholarships
· -The Foundation for Girsh Park
· -Goleta Valley Historical Society
· -The Goleta Railroad Museum
· -The Food Bank
· -Alpha Resource Center
· -Many More…
