Last Wednesday I and a bunch of friends were having drinks here and of course no restaurant restroom will ever go unvisited by the MrPottyMouth. Now the picture above is one of many of Carlitos bathroom and you can see them all at the Flicker site along with pics of the competition. Each restaurant is in its own set on the right. The comments for each restaurant is on this blog only.
The problem at Carliitos is that whomever designed the bathroom had obviously never cleaned one. This is another pet peeve of mine, designers, architects and owners that think they are designers. Where Mexican tile may do fair in private home bathrooms, in a public place the grout lines are just too wide and porous. Instead of using a fine tile grout, Mexican tile usually looks right with a sanded grout. Sanded grout just loves to hold mold and dirt and even the best of urine eradicator (the unlucky employee) can't do much about the grime. The group of pictures at flicker (here)shows the nasty.
What needs to be done here, at the very least, is the removal of the bottom two courses of tile and replace it with a polished stone, like marble or granite and put a cove at the corner to eliminate the 90 degree dirt trap.
There are other issues at play here. Urine from the bathroom gets dragged into the dining area and kitchen. There should be a carpet/rubber backed mat placed in the hall to absorb the wet and it should be replaced by the cleaning service daily.
Oh, and where do I throw the dirty paper towel I used to open the door? There was no receptacle, so I had to take it back to the table where I then had to drop it on the floor as to not place it on the eating service.
Sorry Carlitos, Send MrPottyMouth pics and info. when it is improved and it may be revisited and forgiven perhaps.
Oh, and please straighten and secure the stainless toilet set gasket dispenser back to horizontal.
The food is good here, but "ya got da wonder"
