500 Maple Gallery Opens in Carpinteria

Longtime fine art and antiques dealer Carolina Pierpont is expanding her successful antiques/art/garden gallery showroom in Summerland with a second location a few miles “south of the Summerland border” to the seaside town of Carpinteria, California.
Since much of her business is with the design trade, including interior decorators, architects as well as private collectors combined with a burgeoning online business, it made sense to expand into a warehouse situation in Carpinteria’s blooming industrial zone, one block off the main drag of Linden Avenue.
“My customers love it,” noted Pierpont, adding, “plus with reduced overhead I am able to pass on savings to my clients.” Add to that, a nearby brewery and other similar businesses and the move hastens the birth of a new, trendy “funk zone”.
The Gallery is currently open for business, but the “Official Grand Opening” will take place on Saturday October 20, from 4 pm – 9 pm. The exhibition, titled, “Art & Devotion” will include religious artifacts and paintings from Spanish Colonial times to present day depictions.
500 Maple is highlighting contemporary local artists and those featured for this show will include: Larry Powell, Marjorie Palonen, Sally Hamilton, Susan Price, Ray Cuevas, Marcia Morehart, Liz Brady, Rebekah Miles and a special showing of the work of Lorraine Serena.
Adding to the revelry, there will be live music, food and fun.
It’s a Family Affair
Carolina Pierpont is aided by her daughter Nicole Pierpont, who is in charge of curating the art and new inventory purchases and son, John Pierpont, who in addition to charming customers in the inimitable Pierpont style, is responsible for photographing and marketing items on their website www.mediterraneeantiques.com .
“We love interacting with our customer base, but have found the Internet also generates a good deal of business for us,” says the pedigreed native of El Salvador.
That could be the understatement of the year. The Pierpont family is known for their lively parties and openings with a Latin flair: so expect more festivities in the coming months and years at 500 Maple Street in Carpinteria, California.
