It's around 7 pm outside the Lobero Theater on Friday night. I'm not registered for any red carpet placement, and I don't have the right camera lens with me. What's a chickadee to do?
Why, I hang out in the mad throng of fans clinging to the outer fences, that's what I do.
I'll spare you the two dozen shots I got of the backs of big burly bouncers blocking out the floodlights, and I'll spare you the amoeba of publicists and photographers that surround the celebrities, reaching out occasional psuedopods of camera parts and clipboards.
I wish I could impart on you the desperate wails of the crowd, going "Hailee, Hailee, Hailee, won't you sign for your fans? Over here, Hailee. Haileeeeeee."
What you get instead is my one snap of break out star, Ms. Hailee Steinfeld, when she did indeed come out into plebs-ville to sign for her fans and get a few photos taken.
Then I gave up, and skulked off to Cafe Zoma to have a cappuccino.
