wave heights chart - Sterns Warf
Posted by ilessing on:
"The wave measuring device on Stearns Wharf has, and is still measuring the reverberations of waves (think of all those outwardly expanding concentric circles of waves you see when you throw a rock into a pond) from the earthquake.
Notice how noisy the tide heights (grey/black line) get after 12:30pm on Sat on the attached plot and still continues in the current data nearly 12 hours later"

This is very interesting.

I want to understand this chart, but the markings on it are too small. Is the big wave at the left the regular tide, and the jiggity ones afterward towards the right the consequences of the earthquake in Chile?

you can dig around on the SB Coastal site for the original. http://sbc.lternet.edu/data/stearns_wharf/index.php I couldn't upload the full resolution graphic here.
