A quick kudos for Phoebe Snow's amazing concert last Friday. I have loved her since the early 70's and decided to catch the show at the last minute. After a thoroughly enjoyable dinner at the Sojourner we made our way over to the Lobero just in time to find our seats and have the lights go down. We had no idea what a treat we were in for. Phoebe has aged like a fine wine. Her voice is just as clear yet velvety as ever. Her range actually seems to have grown larger and she had the audience on it's feet more than once with standing ovations.
She spoke heart wrenchingly of the death of her 31-year old daughter and sang a song written for her which had all of us wiping tears from our cheeks and chins. I went home and immediately ordered her new album "Phoebe Snow Live" recorded in New York last summer which includes her amazing version of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" (you wouldn't believe it could sound so good) and my original favorite, her first album entitled simply "Phoebe Snow".
She's been through some hard times and she's back on the road to heal herself and in the process is blessing all those who see her in person with a little piece of heaven.
Thanks Phoebe. We love you.
