Lou Genise was a good friend and remains so.
His memorial was Sunday. There was a magical kind of community there. Several of Lou's friends contributed video, which played at one point on a screen over his open casket. It was incredible to see ourselves speak to him there, and to see him dance, work, play, and speak back to us there. I was reminded about why I ever picked up a video camera. The medium transcends time and space.
Kyle Ruddick made this video piece, in which Lou blazed before us.
He, Dave Ciaccio, and I stayed up the entire night before compiling media for Lou's memorial.
We love you brother.

This was my enhanced view from my front door in downtown Santa Barbara as flames raged over the city. This was our 3rd night with such a view.
