UCSB Arts & Lectures and its partners Whole Foods Market and the Santa Barbara Independent bring youFOOD for THOUGHT Appeteasers… a series of fun, interactive events crafted to promote foodie culture in Santa Barbara.
Calling Out to the Area’s Best Bakers…. Do you have what it takes to be Santa Barbara’s King or Queen of Pastry? In conjunction with UCSB Arts & Lectures screening of the documentary Kings of Pastry (Thursday, March 3, 7:30 pm, UCSB Campbell Hall), Arts & Lectures, the Santa Barbara Independent, and Whole Foods Market are sponsoring a pastry contest on Saturday, March 19, 2 – 4 PM at Whole Foods Market, Santa Barbara!
If you think you can stand the heat, get into the kitchen and whip up your favorite pastry for us! Winners will get Arts & Lectures tickets, Whole Food gift certificates, and bragging rights as the best baker.
To make it to the finals, send a recipe/description of your delicious delight to Independent Food Editor George Yatchisin at email@example.com by 5 PM on Thursday, March 10th.
Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Best tasting • Most creative • Best looking
Those bakers chosen for the finals will have to make their pastry and have it judged by an esteemed panel of experts and the public. The event is FREE and open to the public.
At the same time, a group of selected professional pastry-makers will be taking part in their own separate contest to be named the King or Queen of Pastry.
