Why do barnacle geese fly south for the winter? According to Internet experts, 'Birds regularly move north and south following the apparent movement of the sun in search of warm climatic conditions.' Although animal intelligence is often difficult to quantify, geese do have rather large brains relative to their body mass. Perhaps these honking snow-dogs of the sky have something to teach us by example. So as the fall began to chill like the chalk around a mob revenge killing, I took a gander at my winged friends, and decided to fly southwest for the season, some 3000 miles, from Brooklyn to my native SB.
